Back up and restore

Save a copy of your book, or restore one, from Settings.

Backup

Open Settings with the gear.
Under Data, tap Backup local data. The button reads Preparing backup… while it works.
A share sheet titled “Backup RanchLog data” opens. Share the file and keep it somewhere safe, off this phone.
After the share sheet closes, RanchLog says “Backup complete”. The message is “A copy of this farm’s book and photos was prepared. If you finished sharing, keep that file somewhere safe for phone replacement or before Sync.”

Under Data, tap Restore local data.
RanchLog asks “Replace this farm’s book?” and explains, “This replaces the book on this phone with the file you pick. A copy of the current book is saved on this phone first.”
Pick Cancel, Choose backup, or Restore as a new copy.
Choose backup replaces the book on this phone.
Restore as a new copy makes a separate book, so the next sync won’t add those animals to a farm this account already owns.
When the book is in place, the title reads Book replaced. Tap Reload.
